In conversation with Priya Goel, Deputy Manager, at Yes Bank
Limited. Before working at Yes Bank Limited, she worked as a
Assistant Manager at H.K. Joon & Company. We would like to
understand the role and responsibilities of a Deputy Manager
from her.
1. Describe your work and work profile in a very simple manner?
I work as an internal auditor in Yes Bank. My work involves
doing risk-based internal audit of branch banking units all
over India. The audit covers mostly the operational risk and
some part of legal and reputation risk also. From time to
time, get an opportunity to audit the various head office
units. Apart from this, I am also involved to provide training
on various topics to the team members, liaise with the
concurrent auditors, keeping process and checklist up to
date, preparing board notes for Audit Committee and various
reporting.
2. Can you share your Daily Routine with us?
My day begins around 4:30 AM. I exercise a bit and then study
for FRM L-2 and go through some news highlights before going
to the office. Then in the office, I first go through the emails in
the inbox, reply to them and write down the day's tasks to be
done in order of priority. If in between any urgent work comes
up, I do that. After coming back home, spend some time with
family members and have dinner. I prefer reading a book
before sleeping.
3. How did you reach this stage in your career?
I reached here with the hard work, blessings of my
parents and the Almighty. After clearing my Chartered
Accountancy exams in November 2017, I got a job at Yes
Bank in internal audit profile. I have learned various
things from my job. There I developed a keen interest to
study risk and joined the FRM course. I appeared for
FRM L-1 exam in November 2019 and cleared it and now
I'm preparing for the FRM L-2. The way to grow is to
upgrade yourself and be with people who push you and
not pull you down. This is what I followed in my life. This is just the beginning, there is a long way to go ahead.
